Come and volunteer at our Mangrove Propagule Collection on Saturday, Oct. 26 at the Crandon Park Marina from 9 a.m to 12 p.m.
We will be collecting red mangrove propagules for Plan(T), Xavier Cortada’s latest eco-art project that tackles the effects of climate change on the South Florida community and aims to create the community’s first urban mangrove forest.
Please bring comfortable closed-toed shoes, insect repellent, work gloves (if you have them), and protection from the sun. Long shirts/pants, water, hats, and sunglasses are highly recommended. We also suggest bringing refillable water bottles and snacks.
Service hours can be provided upon request.
All ages are welcomed to come. We hope to see you there!
Note: Through our permit with Miami-Dade County Parks and Recreation we are able to collect these mangrove propagules for Cortada Projects. Mangroves are a protected species in South Florida; therefore, in order to collect seedlings you must have a government issued permit.
