AIDs Walk 1999

Dedication of Bridging the Gap Mural (a collaborative mural created by the participants of the United Nation’s 12th World AIDS Conference in Geneva) during the 11th Annual AIDS WALK Ceremonies on Sunday, February 21, 1999 in Bayfront Park Miami, Florida.

Also at the AIDS WALK: the unveiling of the first panel of a Bisazza glass mosaic reproduction of the Bridging the Gap mural to be donated to Care Resource for placement in a permanent location as the first monumement to AIDS in Miami Dade

Brian Norcross, Master of Cermonies for the 1999 AIDS Walk stands before the Bisazza glass mosaic reproduction of Xavier Cortada’s Bridging the Gap mural in downtown Miami’s Bayfront Park. Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas, U.S. Congressman Peter Deutch, Miami Beach Mayor Neisen Kasdin and Bisazza’s Tom Birt helped the artist unveil the glass mosaic mural on February 21, 1999.

Walk With a Purpose!

Thousands of people from South Florida will take part in the 11th Annual AIDS WALK on Sunday, February 21st.

The walk, which covers tha major streets of downtown Miami, begins and ends in Bayfront Park. Metromover and Metrorail service will be free Sunday to help get you to and from Bayside Park.

Proceeds benefit Care Resource, the merged partnership of Health Crisis Network and Community Research Initiative.

Registration opens at 7:30 am.
There is a $25 minimum pledge contribution per walker.
