Allapattah
17th Avenue Flyover and 3 Columns

Mangrove details for 3 columns and the on ramp wall:

Using 8 foot by 4 foot stencils designed by the artist, Hands on Miami Volunteers will draw three mangrove seedlings on each of the underpass' columns.  Each column's seedlings will be painted with one of 18 predetermined colors, the areas surrounding it to look appear as sea and sky.  To see studies of seedlings click on: magenta, red, orange, yellow, green, and violet.

Students will then return to the site with black paint and reproduce images uniquely designed  by Xavier Cortada for each and every seedling.

Firefighters begin pressure cleaning the 17th Avenue flyover to prepare it for painting.

City of Miami Commission Chair Joe Sanchez joins volunteers in painting overpass during Hands on Miami Day
